EP Racing is equipped to offer specialty coatings for race applications. Below you will find information and product visuals of each specific coating available that are used throughout various parts for your engine.
DRY FILM LUBRICANT
- High pressure lubricant.
- Reduces friction, galling and scuffing. Increases part life.
- Requires no clearance changes to compensate for the coating.
- Apply to any part subject to sliding or rotating friction.
- Excellent for use on bearings.
- Water based no hazardous fumes.
Typical use of this coating are on engine bearings, lifter bores, valve stems, valve seats, rocker arm tips etc etc. This coating is used widely in the racing automotive industry for coating bearings and for softer alloy materials as well. Product requires the end user to burnish down to remove high spots that occur during the coating process. Once burnished, the part is then able to be put into survice.
CERAMIC LUBRICANT
This ceramic coating, designed to be used, on any rigid or semi rigid surface experiencing sliding, rotating or oscillating friction. Designed to carry loads in excess of 350,000 PSI as well as lubricate at temperatures in excess of 1600°F. A combination of a unique water based ceramic resin and lubricating solids including, a ceramic lubricating frit. Combines the durability of a ceramic resin with the lubricity of the ceramic lubricant. This coating works well in light duty applications as well as in applications where high temperatures, high loads and high speeds are experienced. When higher temperatures, than most other types of coatings can provide protection at, are experienced, this coating is fully capable of carrying the load. Gray in color and acquires a glass like finish in use. It is formulated to provide a cured film thickness of “.001” or less.
- PROTECTIVE TO ABOVE 1600°F • Maintains adhesion at base metal temperatures in excess of 1600°f.
- HIGHLY RESISTANT TO THERMAL SHOCK • Survives cyclic heating and cooling.
- DURABLE SEMI-RIDGID • Creates a hard, semi rigid, ceramic like finish that survives impact, as well as expansion and contraction without separating from the base metal.
- HIGH LOAD CAPABILITY • Lubricating pigments are capable of carrying loads in excess of 350,000 PSI.
- CORROSION AND CHEMICAL RESISTANT • Resistant to most chemicals and acids while inhibiting oxidation.
Typical uses of this coating are piston skirts, camshafts, transmission gears, ring & pinions, valve stems, solid lifter buckets, crankshaft journals etc etc.
CERMET & GOLD POLYPHEN COATING THERMAL BARRIER
- Designed for Performance engines running; Nitrous oxide, Supercharged or Turbocharged.
- Creates a hard surface specifically designed for engines running High volumes of fuel and/or high compression ratios.
- Thermal barrier coating.
- Reduces part temperature. Keeps heat in combustion chamber longer through the power stroke.
- Increase torque and H.P. Increase combustion chamber efficiency.
- Reduce fuel consumption.
The best ceramic coating on the market for engine internal applications. Bar none, this coating does the job no other supplier/product offering can do. Specifically used in high compression and turbo/nitrous/supercharger applications. This coating has a HIGH ceramic content that has been proven to enable tuners to tune with increase in ignition timing without detonation up to 22 degrees timing on a twinturbo Z32!!!!! To put it bluntly..this stuff WORKS!
This coating is used on combustion chambers, piston tops, & valve faces. White in color once cured and bonded to the material.
THERMAL DISPERSANT
- Rapidly disperses heat away from a coated component.
- More evenly distributes heat over a coated surface.
- Aids in cooling heat sensitive parts.
- Excellent for intake manifolds, brake components, oil pans etc.
- Very good chemical and corrosion resistance.
- Black in color.
- Cosmetically appealing.
This coating is widely used on numerous parts to aid in heat dissapation. Parts that can benefit from this coating are turbocharger compressor housings, oil pumps, water pumps, upper and lower intake manifolds, Intercoolers, intercooler piping, undersides of pistons etc etc. If you have a need in shedding heat from a designated area or part this coating is the one to go to.
LUBRICATED THERMAL BARRIER
- Oil shedding thermal barrier.
- Designed for the bottom of intake manifolds.
- Use on windage trays, crank scrapers, connecting rods etc….
This coating is AWESOME! Gives the most in oil shed ability and has a fantastic finish once bonded/cured. We use this coating on a number of applications such as connecting rods, crankshaft counter weights, and many more. Simply put if you want to have the most in oil control this is a coating you simply can not ignore!
HI HEAT I.D. COATING
- Modified Polymer.
- Designed for the I.D. of chrome pipes to reduce bluing.
- Excellent thermal barrier for exhaust ports.
- Smooth finish enhances flow in exhaust ports.
- May be flowed, brushed, sponged or sprayed.
We use this coating in exhaust ports and sometimes in exhaust manifolds. With a glass like finish this coating does a few things that no other coating can accomplish. Being that its a thermal barrier it shields the exhaust port from radiating excessive heat into the rest of the cylinder head. The glass like finish of this coating improves exhaust gas velocity AND it aids in decreasing spool up time on turbo engines! Customers have experienced an decrease in approx 300-700RPM. Thats HUGE!
2 STG HHBK w/ TURBO X
- Extreme temperature Exhaust system coating designed specifically for Turbo’s.
- Available in BLACK and BLUE
- Reduces under hood temperatures, reduces exhaust manifold surface temperatures
- Improve exhaust gas velocity, increase H.P.
This coating has been a great addition to turbochargers in retaining heat and keeping engine bay temps down. Couple this coating with the exhaust port coating and you have a fool proof system that channels and enables the exhaust system to be extremely efficient. This coating is applied to both turbo manifolds and turbocharger turbine housings.
