Modernizing the VG30DETT, Strengthening the Block With Engineered Performance

EPR vg30 Brute Series connecting rods

With demand becoming greater on engine internals and engine assemblies making more HP the need for a more HD offering for connecting rods was needed. Our view on what is currently available for an off the shelf conrod selection didn’t offer what we were looking for so we set out to design a full on HD full race connecting rod for users that want to make significant power without sacrificing strength.

Our new Brute Series rods are produced by Saenz exclusively for us. This new connecting rod features a new thicker mid section on the blade of the rod, added beam depth to help support against rod rollover and twist. The big feature that is a significant upgrade over the shelf connecting rods is that our Brute rods feature a 7/16 rod bolt. You have the option of use an ARP 2000 or L19 rod bolt. This increase in bolt diameter over a 3/8″ rod bolt is dramatic and is what gives this series of rods a huge advantage.

Brute Series Rods are rated for 2000HP but can be easily used in a street application.

EPR VG30DETT TM Head Stud kit

We are excited to offer our own head stud kit that sets us apart from the rest. Our TM head stud kit offers 15% more tensile strength over others offered and incorporates a bullet at the end to support the stud within the column to increase the studs ability to clamp the head down.

This new design evens the load along the full length of threads and not just the top 3-4 threads where a significant amount of stress is present. Our stud kit clamps more, can be torqued to a higher rate and while stretch is much more even it promotes a compressive state vs relying on the excessive stretch/stress to keep the head down. This promotes less stress per thread thereby making the stud a much more stable fixture within the block.

Our stud kit comes with the correct O.D washers and taller 12pt nuts to aid in holding the added torque.

VG30DETT Cut Ring Head Gasket

Engineered Performance & SCE Gaskets teamed up to produce the first cut ring gasket for the VG30DETT platform. We spent a good amount of time working with SCE to make these a reality and we are excited to bring these to market for not only another composite gasket offering but to elevate the composite gasket to hold a higher amount of cylinder pressure.

SCE Vulcan cut-ring head gaskets are hybrids forged to harness the best sealing properties of two head gasket types—composite and stainless steel. With no sealant needed, the pliable, perforated metal-core composite bodies eliminate coolant and oil leaks, while the solid stainless steel cut-rings “bite” into the cylinder head forming a positive barrier against combustion pressure leaks—without machining. SCE Vulcan cut-ring head gaskets are designed for use with high-static compression or forced-induction engines, which are prone to combustion pressure leaks when using typical composite or MLS head gaskets.

The Butcher

We were contacted about some issues with a crankshaft that was done by another facility in FL.  Upon finding out more regarding this terrible work performed on this factory VG crank we were left a bit baffled but none the less it was a challenge we knew we could take on and fix for our client.

The issues that presented themselves were due to an improper balance job on the crank and incorrectly modified counterweights in an effort to reduce drag/windage in the crankcase.

As you can see we achieved what we set out to do which was repair and salvage this clients crankshaft all the while updating details for a new short block build we did for him.
